The Old Irish name for King Conwell was Conmael, son of Eber and Fert Conmail. He was King of Ireland for 30 years, and fell at the battle of Aenach Macha, slain by Tighernmas, son of Follach.

Very Old Oaks17th century historian Geoffrey Keating wrote “ Conmael was killed in the battle of Aonach Macha, and was buried on the south side of Aonach Macha, in the place which is called Feart Conmhaoil, at this day” (at the Rooted in Ireland Oak Tree site)

Also of historical importance is the site of a Mass rock, which was were priests celebrated mass during the Persecution times. This is located 100 meters to the south of the Rooted in Ireland site.

It is in this hugely historic, beautiful, and tranquil area, that your tree will be planted. Your roots will, quite literally, be in one of the oldest centers of civilization in Ireland.
